The JoyYou Card is a personalised Octopus that lets Hong Kong residents aged 60 or above travel on most public transport under the government's $2 fare concession. The JoyYou Card is a photo-bearing, personalised Octopus for people aged 60+, used for the government's $2 fare concession. The Senior Citizen Card, issued by the Social Welfare Department, is mainly proof of senior status for merchant discounts — not a fare card. They serve different purposes and you can hold both.

Eligibility and how to apply
Hong Kong residents aged 60, or turning 60 within three months of applying, holding a valid Hong Kong ID card, can apply. Apply via the Octopus app or by mailing the form; generally a smart ID card issued on/after 26 November 2018 is required.

The 2026 '$2-or-20%' arrangement
From 3 April 2026 the $2 scheme changes from a flat $2 per trip to '$2 or 20%': for an adult fare of HK$10 or less, you pay $2; for an adult fare above HK$10, you pay 20% of the fare. So concessionary fares on longer trips are slightly higher than before, but still far below the full fare.
